Advantage Point (below) got his head in front in excellent style on Saturday when taking the honors in the second division of the Cavan Developments Maiden Hurdle at Naas. Under a positive ride by Robbie Colgan, Advantage Point raced at the front of the field and practically made all to win comfortably in the end. He made a significant error when jumping the last which caused him to lose his impulsion, but he will do some more schooling to help this and the more he matures the more consistent his jumping will become. He is a gorgeous horse, and he most definitely has a bright future ahead of him.
The star of the show, in some respects, was Echoes of Family who ran extremely well in the Listed Opera Hat Mares Chase. She jumped incredibly well the whole way, and was extremely relaxed from start to finish – this in itself is a huge improvement after her previous race where she was very free and lost her steering right at the crucial moment. Her jockey, Robbie Colgan, gave her a very educational ride and she will have learned a lot from this. She will be a really fun mare at her level, and will hopefully give the Racing Club some great days. Here she is enjoying some down-time with Whatucallher.
