What a superb start to the flat season for all the team at Mulgrave Lodge. The first runner we sent out was Paved Paradise at Dundalk last Friday in a 5f handicap. Under a patient ride by Mark Gallagher she absolutely flew home and actually won very impressively by a growing 2 lengths. She is an exciting mare and it will be interesting to get her onto the turf once the ground is more in her favour. This is her second win, and hopefully we will have a lot of fun with her. She would probably be best suited to 6f but she seems very versatile which opens up a lot of possibilities for her.
We then sent out Levee Breaks for a 5f maiden at Navan the next day (Saturday) again under Mark Gallagher and he absolutely demolished the field to win very impressively by 3 and 3/4 lengths. This was his first ever run, and he really is a horse to get very excited about.
Dromod Lad made his seasonal debut at Navan on the same day after a couple of slightly disappointing efforts last year. He ran a very pleasing race being one of the last horses off the bridle but he just didn’t quite stay the distance. He will most likely drop back in trip next time out and should improve for the run.
Sir Psycho ran today at Leopardstown in a 1m 2f maiden. He ran once last year and was quite eye-catching so we were hopeful of good run today. He certainly didn’t disappoint, finishing a very pleasing third. He was probably unlucky not to come second as he got bumped about a furlong from home, but we were absolutely thrilled with his effort and will come on a huge amount for this.
It is great to see the hard work put in by everyone paying off and hopefully it will continue for a long time! We look to have a very exciting team of horses and we are all very much looking forward to what is still to come.
